Eons Fitness Survey Shows Boomers Haven't Lost a Step in Their Quest ...
CHARLESTOWN NAVY YARD, BOSTON, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Eons(TM), the media company for lovin' life on the flip side of 50, today announced the results of its inaugural Eons Boomer Fitness Survey of the fitness attitudes and behaviors of the most physically active and healthy generation in history. Baby boomers who fueled the aerobics movement and who crowded running paths across the country are now reaping the dividends of their active lifestyles, with more than half saying they are in excellent or above-average condition, according to the survey. "Baby boomers are the generation that made Jane Fonda's aerobics videos best-sellers and they took up Jim Fixx's challenge to become a nation of runners," said Jeff Taylor, founder and CEO of Eons. "They have goals they want to accomplish, whether it's travel, building new relationships, or just living the biggest life possible, and boomers know they can only do that if they keep their chassis in great shape." Scott "Q" Marcus, an Eons fitness advisor whose "Walking the Walk" blog on eons.com inspires readers with practical, powerful and effective fitness and weight-loss advice, said, "The key to fitness is to remember that 'small steps done regularly always generate better results than large steps done intermittently.' In other words, it's better to walk a block - and actually do it - than promise yourself you'll run a mile, but sleep in instead.
Frank’s part of local folklore
One day a helicopter from Fort Hood landed in the parking lot. The crew ordered 45 cheeseburgers to take on maneuvers, she said. I only had one girl helping me that day, said Mrs. Smith. We were running around like crazy cooking burgers. We knew then we had been discovered. Franks Lakeview Inn In 1955 the Corps wanted the Smiths corner location back to build offices for the Little River Project. They gave Frank his choice of land in the area, Mrs. Smith said. Frank was a visionary. He liked the view from that location overlooking the lake. Mrs. Smith said they built a second establishment on the hilltop and named it Franks Lakeview Inn Restaurant. At one end they constructed a three-bedroom home where they lived. We had some cabins across from the restaurant we rented for $5 and $10 a night, she said.
Welcome to Death Valley
Others would just say, "Death Valley" and leave it at that. But not LSU. Here, it's "Welcome to Death Valley." That's beautiful. It's like descending into Hell and finding a sign that reads, "Satan Invites You to Enjoy Eternal Damnation." .
Dog Decapitated In Coyote Trap
DUNLAP, Tenn. - A man and his son walking their dog saw the animal decapitated when it put its head in a trap baited with bacon. The trap is commonly used to kill coyotes and is legal in Tennessee. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency spokesman Dan Hicks said officers are searching for the trap owner, but probably will not file charges because the dog had strayed onto another person's property. A spokesman for the Humane Society said the traps are like land mines for animals. He said there is no data showing how many domestic animals are killed in traps each year, but it's common enough that trappers can buy insurance for it. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. Dons enjoy Good Liffe late on
AFC Wimbledon skipper Jason Goodliffe is hoping he can lift his strike rate in a bid to chase down Ryman League Premier Division leaders Chelmsford City. The 33-year-old centre back bundled in an injury-time winner to hand the Dons a 2-1 triumph over Margate on Tuesday - moments after lashing a close range volley well wide. It put Wimbledon's play-off hunt back on track after Saturday's disappointing defeat at Heybridge Swifts by the same score. But Goodliffe has not given up hope of claiming the title, warning his team mates of the mistakes they have made in the past. "I've been short on goals this year, but that is my third and hopefully it will be the catalyst for a few more by the end of the season," he said. "It is all about getting as many points as we can to keep the pressure on Chelmsford, so if they have a bit of a blip we are ready to move on them.
